Little Country Schoolhouse

Each classroom has a weekly lesson plan. The schedule consists of Hands on Art, Creative Movement, Number Play, Read-Aloud, Science, and daily lesson/unit studies. Every day also brings Outdoor Play, Free Play, and Center Activities. During Center Activities, the children enjoy blocks, dolls, dress-up, books, computers, and other fun activities.
Our mission is to provide a high quality preschool and child care to the residents of Clarksville and the surrounding area.

What we offer:
- State-approved Kindergarten with a certified teacher and low student-teacher ratio
- The Letter People Curriculum for Pre K and Kindergarten
- CPR and First Aid trained staff
- Monthly lead teacher meetings held to further the communication between staff and administration while educating staff on current issues
- In-ground pool with certified lifeguards available for the use of children 3 years and up
- Summer Fun School Age Program for children who have completed Kindergarten
About Our School:
The Little Country Schoolhouse was a dream of Mike and Debby Respass. In 1996, this dream became a reality. Mike has a Master’s degree in Personnel Management, and Debby has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Early Childhood Education. Mike and Debby have three daughters and seven grandchildren. All of the daughters have been actively involved in the creation of Little Country Schoolhouse, and the younger grandchildren enjoy the daily activities of LCSH.
Ms. Lori is the assistant director and has worked in the infant and toddler rooms before becoming the assistant director in 1998. She and her husband have 2 children, Cole and Addison, presently attending LCSH. Heather, their youngest, was the school age director for 10 years before leaving to teach elementary school. She and her husband, Brandon, have Lilyan presently attending LCSH.
The Little Country Schoolhouse has grown from 10 children in 1996 to over 200 children. On a daily basis, we strive for our families to have a place where their children are safe, happy and learning. In 2007, LCSH earned accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
The Little Country Schoolhouse Philosophy
Play takes a child from a state of passive listening and onlooking to a state of active building, creating, and participating in their environment. Through play, a child learns by doing.
Children are given many opportunities to learn in ways that are age- and interest-appropriate. They are immersed in many interactions and activities that are designed to develop the child's self-esteem and positive feelings towards learning. The child is given many opportunities through their environment to build, construct, create, sing, recite, write, dance, and exercise their mind and bodies. The children participate in indoor and outdoor activities and field trips.

Learning is play, and play is learning
