Lisa Walker School of Dance
Lisa Walker School of Dance was established in 1984. "Miss Lisa" has more than 25 years teaching experience. Her students have performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Nokia Sugar Bowl and the Music City Bowl. "Miss Lisa's" training includes ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical and hip hop. “Miss Candace” is a former student and student assistant of Lisa’s School of Dance. Her training began at the age of three. Candace is an honor graduate of Lambuth University where she was also captain of the dance team. Student Assistants are available in each class to make certain that every student receives individual attention and correction. All student assistants are trained by "Miss Lisa" and are required to participate in teacher/student workshops on a yearly basis. Our tuition rates are based on 34-36 weeks of instruction. Tuition remains the same whether a long (5 week) or short (3 week) month. There are no refunds for missed classes. Our Classes: - Combo Classes. Combination classes are available for all ages and are designed to create well-rounded dancers by providing instruction in all basic dance movement and forms. - Pre-School for ages 3 & 4. This class consists of pre-ballet, creative movement, basic rhythm, tumbling and introduction to tap. - Pre-School for ages 4 & 5. Pre-ballet, tap, tumbling and intro to jazz. - Level I Combo for ages 5 & 6. Ballet, tap, jazz and tumbling in preparation for entrance into Level II classes. - Level II Combo for ages 7-9. - Level III Combo for ages 9-11. In addition to recreational classes, we also offer competitive dance classes and have an award winning performance company. For the past 20 years, we have presented the community with a Christmas production and donated all proceeds to charity. Dress Code. No street or baggy clothes permitted in any class other than Hip Hop! Wearing proper dance attire and shoes is essential to your child's learning. It is very important that your teacher can see your body alignment in order to correct your technique and give you the proper training. Hair must always be pulled away from the face. Observers. We cannot allow observers during scheduled classes. We offer two observation days per year so that you can see your child's progress. Some of our younger students have a difficult time participating in class when their parents are watching and older students sometimes feel intimidated by their presence. Children are not allowed to attend a parent watch week session. We do have a waiting area in the front of the building.
