North Shore Yoga
Our curriculum will cover topics such as the principles of alignment; adjustments and assists; anatomy and physiology; bandhas; pranyama; chanting; meditation; chakras; yamas and niyamas; communication skills; ethics; history; lifestyle; sanskrit; practice teaching; sequencing; book discussions and video presentations. We offer a variety of classes for every skill level. - Beginning Yoga. This class is for the beginner yogi who wants to stretch and strengthen in a gentler approach. We will move you slowly through the poses, spending time on alignment and working with the breath. No prior yoga experience is necessary. - Community Classes are offered at a discount. The best part is that all the proceeds are compiled for three months to contribute to a local charity in which North Shore Yoga is sponsoring! - Flow Yoga. Flow is a graceful blend of alignment principles and vinyasa flow. Meditation in motion that is linking breath with the postures and an emphasis on of breath are all a part of Flow Yoga. These classes move along more fluidly than a basic alignment class and are not set series of postures such as Ashtanga. - Hot Yoga is a series of 26 postures performed in a precise order, in a room heated to 105 degrees. This class systematically works the entire body, concentrating on the essence of every organ, bone, joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, blood vessel, nerve and gland. Incorporating strength, balance, and flexibility, and restores and shapes the body. - Power Yoga is a faster paced yoga class that connects movement together with breath. This class is for those who desire a more challenging yoga practice and like to sweat. - Prenatal Yoga. Enjoy yoga in a safe, supportive environment while learning postures and exercises specifically suited to pregnant women. This class uses breath work, alignment, sound vibration, strength training, therapeutics and community for the health and happiness of both mother and baby. - Yin Yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures for three to five minutes at a time. It is the ideal complement to more muscular or “Yang” forms of Yoga. A Yin practice emphasizes the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. In this way it prepares the body and the mind for longer meditation practices. - Yoga for Kids. Cooperative games, theme activities, story telling, music and art engage the natural energy and enthusiasm of the older child. Classes explore yoga poses, breathing exercises, visual imagery and relaxation techniques while conveying lessons in self-expression, body image, social skills, positive thinking and environmental awareness. Daily schedule is 8:00am-6:30pm with a one hour lunch break. Short breaks will be given throughout the day.
