Eastern Sun Yoga Studio
Lou Hoyt, Eastern Sun's founder and director, has studied and practiced yoga for 25 years. She travels to India to study with the Iyengars, most recently, July 2007, and holds a Junior Intermediate Level 3 Iyengar certificate, a Masters Degree in Education, and a Masters Degree in Counseling. Our Classes: - Introduction to Yoga. A Class for Beginners. These classes are especially for students wanting to start yoga and learn beginning principles and poses. - Gentle Yoga: Designed for students who want to enter yoga more slowly. Poses will be modified to meet the needs of the student. This class is appropriate for seniors, pre- and postnatal students, people returning from injuries, and inflexible students. - Level I: Introduction to the Iyengar approach of hatha yoga, emphasizing basic standing poses. - Level II: Refinement of the standing poses and introduction of shoulder stand, plow and headstand. - Level III: Appropriate for students with a regular personal practice, strong in the standing poses and confident in shoulder stand, plow and headstand. Instruction focuses on intermediate standing poses, intermediate backbends, vinyasa and variations in inversions. - Advancing Your Yoga Practice. For intermediate students and teachers who want to deepen their practice and explore more advanced poses. - Restorative: Designated classes each month. Focuses entirely on restorative poses (relaxation) and pranayama (breathing). Students must have six months of experience at Eastern Sun to participate. - Body Awarness Through Yoga. The emphasis in these classes is on exploring fundamental movement patterns in relation to the Iyengar system of Yoga. The elements of breath, alignment, centering, and natural rhythms come together to promote a safe, easy and integrated use of the body. All of the basic yoga poses will be introduced. For beginning and intermediate students. - Prenatal: If you are a new student, call the individual teacher for placement in an appropriate class. - Private Lessons: Call individual instructors to inquire about an individualized program. Fees and availability vary. - Class attire: bare feet, visible knees and empty stomach. - For the Love of Yoga! A weekend at Gray Bear Lodge of yoga, friends, and nature. Join Lou at the beautiful Gray Bear Lodge for 4 yoga classes, delicious meals, walks in nature, massages or reading a good book on a big porch swing. Diann and Adam take care of all your needs and the yoga classes are in the most beautiful yoga space you will ever experience. Arrive Friday afternoon and departure is Sunday after lunch.
