Recently redecorated and refurbished, the mansion welcomes visitors to a relaxed and comfortable home. Highland Place features several antique French country pine armoires and chests matched with huge, soft silk-covered sofas and modern leather casual lounge chairs. There's individual seating in the dining room and a wood-burning fireplace in the cherry paneled library.
Enjoy yourself on the breezy Plantation Porch or stretch out in the supremely comfortable bed in your room. Listen to jazz or classical, watch a movie or take a walk around the landscaped Inn or through the neighborhood.
At Highland Place, you'll enjoy the breakfast almost as much as you enjoyed the bed! You'll be treated to a full "gourmet" breakfast in comfort as we serve up freshly ground brewed coffee and a selection of teas, fresh fruits, perhaps with a bit of yogurt, a plate of pancakes or waffles or French toast or eggs. Breakfast here is a combination of your choice and a la Cindy's whim. Continental breakfasts are available on weekdays for business travelers. By request, you may order the "full treatment."
Highland Place is an excellent choice for the single or small group of business travelers and for small group and social meetings, day or evening.
Highland Place offers you your choice of four large guest rooms, each with private bath, 100% cotton linens and cozy robes, cable TV with nearly 100 channels, including three HBOs, and a VCR backed by our library of great hits. Several rooms also have a small stereo with a selection of music CDs and capability of playing your own CDs and tapes.
The sleeping rooms are quite different from each other, though similar in theme and equal in luxury. Each room, named for one of the families who previously owned the home, invites you to relax and enjoy yourself in its unique comfort.
Each room has its own desk and there is the Business and Social Center on the second floor where a larger desk may help make relaxing easy and working tolerable.
In the front of the second floor hall where French doors open to a small balcony overlooking Highland Avenue, we have a sitting arrangement perfect for quiet chats and curling up with your book. A video library for our guests is found in this area. For the business traveler, there are collections of audiotapes and various popular business books available for use. If your needs are social and you're looking for games, ask for the chess set, Scrabble, Pente and other games. Feel free to use them in the living room, the library, at a dining room table, or in the quiet of your own room.
Highland Place offers "smoke free" accommodations. There is a pet in residence with us at the Inn. Chesapeake is sometimes loud upon arrival of guests but always friendly. If needed, we will help you make arrangements for your pet at a local kennel.
